Anita – the right person for the job!

I have lived in West Harnham for over 20 years and was born in Salisbury. When our children attended the Harnham schools, some of you may remember me as Chair of the Harnham Schools Association. During that time, we raised funds, organised fun events and activities for the children and their families, and staged the Happy Circus in Middle Street Meadow. This was a hugely popular event with all ages. Over recent years I have been an active fundraiser for the Stars Appeal and, with others, have helped to raise over £100k for an MRI Scanner. I also volunteer at the Playhouse and make soup for the charity Encircles during the winter months.

This is more than just about politics, this is about a sense of pride in our City and Harnham were we live. I believe councillors should be a positive role model and proactive in their communities. They should be listening to what residents have to say about where they live, and be prepared to stand up for them in these difficult times.

My Pledges to you

Salisbury is a beautiful city with many green areas, some of which are in Harnham. We are lucky to have Middle Street Meadow, Parsonage Green, Harnham Slope or Hill, the Recreation Ground and the Water Meadows. Harnham is a lovely place to live ….

…. but it needs protecting, preserving and enhancing.

  • I will lobby to protect, enhance and increase the number of local open spaces, and to increase the bio-diversity of these spaces through more trees and more wild areas. I fully support the Harnham Green Corridor Jubilee project.
  • I will campaign to restore the vitality the city seems to have lost recently. This could be through periods of cheaper parking, more events in the city, sustainable funding for Arts and community groups etc.
  • I support keeping the Library and the City Hall where they are now.

Tough times are ahead for many of us in our community. The cost of living crises, high inflation and shortages of staff in many sectors cause grave concern. The care sector is being particularly hard hit.

City councillors have a limited role, but I would do my utmost to ensure decisions taken by Salisbury Council are fair for everyone, regardless of their background.

This is more than just about politics, this is about a sense of pride in our City and in Harnham were we live.
